The highlight of our meeting with Albatron was most definitely its mini-ITX Socket-754 Athlon 64 motherboard based on the nForce 6150 chipset:

Albatron says that a Socket-AM2 version is in the works and should be out by the end of this year. Coupled with an Energy Efficient Small Form Factor Athlon 64 or X2 processor, the Socket-AM2 version of this motherboard should be a very attractive option for a HTPC among other things. Kudos to Albatron on doing something different.

But it's socket 754 and the Energy Efficient Athlon64's are only for AM2 AFAIK. I was all excited at first too...looked like a perfect HTPC board if you can put a fast 35W processor on it...

AM2 version later in the year, per the quote.

Socket 754 is still much more powerful than any VIA cpu.

Hello? Turion!

Damn that is awesome. Finally something decent for a CarPC. I went with a Dothan, but it was a long period of heel dragging, before I could stomach ponying up the cash. DVI is also unique. They just need to keep the price down...

I've been waiting for this board to show up, I need a good but small mobo for an HTPC project. I emailed Albatron about it last night so hopefully they respond back.

The perpose of a carPC is to use less power, not more. :D
Ya well, I want to go fast, inside and out! <25 second bootups makes it worth it.

This board may also be the only mITX system to support Vista, not that there will probably be any reason to use Vista on a CarPC...
