Hey guys, I post again for general advice on one of my current projects. Because my laptop has a pitifully small harddrive (30GB) and me not having enough cash for an external one of a respectable size...Im going to be making a little filedump out of an old computer I have downstairs. The computer is currently in pretty bad shape, I'll probably have to format the drive which is a 40gb Maxtor which will be a nice addition, I'll probz add to that as more space is required.

Questions:

As I only have 2 copies of WinXP, I'll have to use a Linux distro for running this, are they simple to setup networks, Id need this thing on 24/7 mainly and it needs to connect with Windows computers on the network.

If I remove the CD and Dvd drives can I put hard drives in their place? Because the case that comp is in is tiny (one of them HP Pavillion ones) and might only fit 1 more hard drives should I choose to expand.

Also do you recommend any other ways to resolve my storage problem? I don't have a DVD burner and its annoying putting everything onto CD-R to be honest...
