Right now im running 3 monitors off my 7970.

1 dual link dvi cable to my 120hz monitor
1 mini dp to dvi adapter to my 60hz monitor
1 hdmi to dvi adapter to my 60hz monitor

I assume the adapters are active? They came with my Asus 7970.

I'm adding one of those 1440p Korean monitors to my set up and need to go from mini dp on the video card to dp on the monitor. Will a simple cable like this http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6007&seq=1&format=2 work for a resolution of 2560x1440? Or do i need an active adapter? I didnt see any active adapters from some quick googleing.

My ideal setup will be to have my 3 current monitors in eyefinity 5760x1080 and an extended display at 2560x1440.

To enable support for more than 2 monitors, “active” DisplayPort™ adapters/dongles are required (or monitors with direct DisplayPort™ connectivity must be used).

From what I understand this essentially means that if you are going directly from the GPU via miniDP to the monitor via DP then active is a non-factor since you are not using a dongle/adapter (i.e. just the direct cable).

I have this cable working for me with an Auria Korean Monitor at that rez, no problems at all. (Radeon XFX 6870)

I just switched out my vid card last weekend to a 7970 and using DVI until my full size DP to DP cable arrives today.

Cheers.

Glad to hear! Well at least I know the cable will be cheep!
