I am trying to replace the cable on my active mini-dp to DVI adapter.

Removing the casing and potting was a real paint, but I finally got it all off without damaging anything.

What I am having trouble finding is the actual pinout of the mini-dp connector.

I have found places that say pin 1 is in the upper left hand corner when looking at the end of the cable, and I have also found places that say pin 1 in the upper right hand corner when looking at the connector.

I would think that the pinout would be the same as when looking at the end of a standard dp cable, but do not want to fry something if that is not correct.

Does anybody know for sure where pin one is when looking at the end of the plug on the cable?

The thing is, most pictures show the receptacle, check for eg page 5 in the PDF. Somehow the plug is numbered differently. See http://pinoutsguide.com/Video/mini_displayport_pinout.shtml here as well.

Ok, thx. I had actually looked at the page you linked already.

But.. after experimenting with my passive adapter from Monoprice, and looking at the regular DP pinout, I think I have figured it out.

So.. pin 1 is in the upper left hand corner with mini-DP. I verified that with the monoprice adapter as well since the circuit board is actually labeled correctly for a mini-DP cable.

The active adapter I have is by Wieson.

It turns out that the numbers on the circuit board are labeled for the pinout of a normal sized DP cable. I am pretty sure that is why I was totally confused before.
