I don't want to do an entire reinstallation because the updates will take up to 3 or 4 days.
I want to move the entire OS to my new Crucial M4 64 Gb SSD and leave my apps on my original Samsung 830 64Gb SSD
I ran out of room just as Danny Bui predicted.
Now I want to run my OS and VM from the M4 and all my printmaking and imaging apps from the 830.
How do I simply take my fully updated OS and migrate it to my new SSD?
I appreciate any help here as I trust what you guys say a sight more than what MS or Crucial may say.
Thank you,
GF

Hey and thank you,
I'm trying to get my head around the process.
I definitely want to avoid any more updates if I can.
The updates from my apps will be unloadable.
I'll have to bring my entire rig to town.
Windows updates will be near unloadable, but I can do it because my computer will take up right where it left off in the download with windows updater,
but not with any of my apps updates.
Frustrating to say the least.
So I want to leave my apps alone on their individual partition on my current ssd.
I want to move my os to the new ssd w/o having to update again.
I have acronis true image home 2012 and norton ghost.
I want to leave the partition with my apps alone and only move the OS w/o updating.
I'll go to town if I have to but strongly prefer not to.
Thanks again and have a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Do you have dial up or something that is going to make the updates take 3 to 4 days? Even if you had the slowest dsl line possible you should still be able to download all the updates in less than a day.

Yeah fer sure,
10 Mb per hour tops,
although I have seen 15 Mb per hour
So the updates are daunting to say the least.
Always have something happen in the middle or at the end to ruin a half a 113 Mb download,
and after waiting 23 hours for the thing there's little to do but laugh at my cheepness.
I figured out how to use the second ssd for overload.
I'll use the OS and photoshop off of 1 and use the other for all others and I have the drivers etc on hard disc for putting some other stuff over on it too.
Just not a perfect solution but it works.
Thanks and I'll see you in the movies
