Man guys, check this out. Over at Rage3d, there saying XNA is based around ATi's next gen hardware, R420.

This should give you all some idea what we are talking about with the terms "EXTREME" Muscle Car like power with R420 (or variations thereof). Also why There is no need to fear that Ati will be somehow "behind the curve" with shader processing power.

This is some new demonstrations of Microsofts new XNA development system which is based around Ati's *Next Gen* hardware. (meaning thats what its running on )

The car crash demo is my favorite. Although that *babe* gots a nice rack!!!

Thoughts please!!!

Gotta hand it to them canadians:p Keep on kicking nVIDIA right in the nads:eek: Roll on R420;)

And the exceptionally more impressive Unreal3 engine was being showcased on the NV40.

Oh yeah, forgot to post this, just to prove there using ATi's next gen hardware.

CHRIS DONAHUE: So all the demos today are going to be running on Windows XP with next generation ATI hardware. Some of the components of XNA that you'll see will be HLSL, XACT. We're also using the common controller interfaces and we're running controller S on Windows XP right now.

Hrrm, this is a bit disturbing.

MS "makes" one of the standards for an API (DX).

Now if we start seeing "partnerships" here, this might lead to a split in standards. Nvidia going one way ATI going another. I dunno, the outcome could get messy.

Power to ATI for landing a deal like that though. I guess MS likes ATI for following DX specs with there R3XX series.

-- just watched the videos. Pretty impressive if that's all real time. Perhaps r4xx series has hardware TruForm now?

How is this different from Xbox using Nvidia hardware?

well Xbox 2 is going to have an Ati chip....
and those demo's are mad awesome.... its pretty awesome that they are in real time.
and im betting one of the biggest features of the R420 will be highly advanced hardware trueform.

I think they were trying to demonstrate deformable textures in the first one, which would suggest a videocard that has a physics engine that is hardware accelerated.

Truform would be nice to have back too.

I really hope the NV40 rips the R420 a new one so all the loud spoken fanboys like this get shut up. It'll be interesting to see if their stupidity still leads them to buy the weaker part if indeed that is the case. Me? Im all about the performance.

of course the same can be said about Nvidia. and etc.

Tiger Woods doesn't always win. Right now ATi makes better cards. If you think it will always be this way, you're smoking crack.

so of course by those standards and going with what HRslammR said, if or when the R420 rips the NV40 a new one would you go with that card, or since you blindly base your statements off leaked and unofficial screen shots and numbers would you still buy the NV40? hrm? I'll wait for the reply to this...

Yes but tiger woods doesnt win only once :p

ATi only won once so far.

Thats funny, I fairly recall the Radeon beating the geforce 2, the Radeon 8500 beating the Geforce 3, the 9700 beating the Geforce 4 Ti 4600, the 9800 pro beating the 5800 and the 9800 xt beating the Geforce fx 5900.. that seems like more than once to me.

ATi has been the performance leader for almost 2 years, but not a second before.

Get your comparisons right, the 9700 competes with the 5800, the 9800 with the 5900, the 9800XT with the 5950. What a goop, comparing a DX8 Ti4600 with a DX9 9700. I'd call you a blind fanboy but you'd probabley take it as a compliment.

But just to humour your rabid self, the NV40 rapes the 9800XT. I now proclaim Nvidia the performance leader even though they're not the same generation cards and the NV40 is inteded to compete with the R420. It didn't seem to stop you from comparing a 4600 to a 9700, so why should I let it stop me. ;)

Do you see the Nvidia users talking trash and saying "omg nvidia is da pwnz0rs da ati", no.

It's unfortunate that the ATI fanboys are acting like the amd fanboys.

The 5800 was not on the market when the 9700 was released and the main card Nvidia had to compete was the 4600 at the time.. therefore, ATi had the upper hand at that time(key words). So I ask..how do you compare the 9700 to a card that was not released until months later?

The 9700pro was almost out for half a year before the 5800 became publicly released and the 9800pro came out months before the 5900 did. I think he was referring it to more of a time comparison.

edit:someone beat me before I posted :p

The only reason i like nVidia right now is because it has good OpenGL support. Oh, also i guess i sympathise to it because it's the underdog. If i didn't want to play so many OpenGL-based games, i would go with a 9800 pro.

Do you work for Tomshardware?

wow, who would have thought this thread would turn into an ati vs nvidia thread?

Uh, I hate to break it to you, but nVidia has fanboys too. I hope they're exactly the same and the exact same price... marked Generic so no one can tell which is which.

Then maybe everyone would just shut the hell up about this fanboy crap.

The difference between the 9700 and the 5800 is much bigger than between the 4600 and the 9700.

And remember the 9700 is a DX9 card (as the 5800 claimed to be) and the 4600 is DX8.1.

Im pretty sure the 8500 was compitition for the Ti200,and 500, therefore the Next GEN ati card would be compitition for the GF4 Line, which would then be the 9700PRO and yes the 9700pro did spank the 4600, actually even the 9500pro did ;)

though IM pretty sure that the Ti500 was a bit faster then the 8500(i remember alot of benches of the 2 cards together.
Radeon DDR 32/64 vs Gf2,
8500 VS GF3,
9700 VS 4600,
9700 VS 5800,
9800 VS 5900,
did the Ti500 have PS? not sure on that one. but the 5800 even if it was meant for the 9700 couldnt even compete with the 9500pro,

MMhmm, and what do you call yourself? nVidias guardian angel of truth?

Ack... come on guys, who cares which is better. If one company is better this time around, so be it. *Cheaper prices* is a must now and days!!

Anyways, Microsoft is setting the tone for games of the future. PC games vs. Xbox live via the internet is gonna be cool if you ask me. Unified online gaming is where it's gonna be at. Soon enough, I'll get to rape some Xbox live users and vice versa.:D

Well, this thread was worthwhile only because I could add to my ignore list. Fanboys of all types annoy me.

Just one comment to all of you fanboys: When one company puts out a card clearly better than any other, prices on that card stay high. Remember how long it took for the 9700pro to drop in price? My bank account loves to see intense competition.

Well, believe it or not, what you say about ATI fanboys is the same for nVidia fanboys. I can name a few annoying examples of each, but wont because I would like to remain on the forum.

:p Burn baby burn!
But onto thread topic i think it's all good.It just shows that ATI are starting to get the pat on the back they deserve for all the great work they have been doing.
And nvidia is still getting shown there arse for being the arogant pricks there comapny has become of late. All that can be said:p

All that really means is that your a SMART fan boy you saw a better card for your needs and you grabbed it instead of being "loyal" to a company and selling yourself down the river
:)

It's actually my sig....that's what Nvidia said a while ago.

Thief :D

Fanboys of either Nvidia or Ati should be identified and banned.
However if you are a fanboy of S3, you should be made moderator.
