Microsoft Surface RT 32GB $180

...Sorry for a little off topic but I hate the update, it just made the application have less real estate for writing things! now its taking up 35% of the screen at ALL times, horrible update!

There is a full screen toggle in the app menu.

this deal is amazing... the keyboard alone costs a ton..

Try F11 or swipe down or up from the top

The app menu in a modern app is activated with a swipe down on or up from the top and bottom edges with touch, right click or gesture with a pointing device or Windows+Z from a keyboard. From there the Full Screen option can be toggled.

MSS has the one with a keyboard for $249.99 you just have to find it on their site.

Got in on the Ebay deal last night (along with at the time 12,7** other people lol ) for $169.99 (Microsoft refurb with 1 year warranty) white touch keyboard (NEW) $39.99 Screen cover $2 something and a leather case that fully surrounds the tablet (unlike many with a cheap sleazy elastic band at each corner) $30 or something.

Came out at $239.74. Which if you ask me is the same price by a few measly dollars then this deal is if you were to purchase a leather case for your surface and carries the same warranty as a brand new device from Microsux does. I'm happy and didn't have to deal with waiting in line at MC to find out the last person to get one was the schmuck in front of me or something. LOL

This is after the fiasco called Frys website and that mess of yesterday and trying to spend all day getting passed the store pickup selection screen. What a damn joke. That would have netted me spending more with tax and still not having a screen protector nor a leather case.

Barely got mine. For the price I think its unbeatable. Tablet when I want it, keyboard and mouse when I need it. Crappy that the OS uses half the inboard memory, but putting media on a SD card is ok.

^^^ Congrats! Were the lines long/what time did you get there?

Any hints as to where that would be? I ended up going out after midnight last night to Target/Best Buy and while I got the other things I was looking for, the Surface without a keyboard deal at BB is more of a fallback position, at $280+ you are out of where I wanted to be with this.

I got it for $200+tax from MS' website. (Their website was having issues to say the least.) Now I need to look for a keyboard/cover.

Got there at 6:30...opened at 8AM, pretty much everyone ahead of me was there to get one of these. I doubt it's viable from a profit perspective, but apparently $180, with the keyboard, is a VERY acceptable price for most people.

I don't doubt they could offer a Windows RT tablet at this price, I just don't think it's going to be the construction quality of the Surface....and that's what drew me to it. Its a cheap price, but it's not a cheap tablet.

2 years ago I showed up at MC around 11 am, their was still a line out the door and the freaking line to buy stuff wrapped completely around the entire inside circuit of the store.

After several hours of shopping the purchasing line was still that long. Lets see if all these RT fire sales result in an Steve posting an article about increased windows 8 adoption this holiday season.

Between these Surface deals and the Venue Pros, you might not be that far off.

I picked mine up at Micro Center on Friday and I love it! I got it all updated to 8.1 and used it in a couple of situations this weekend where I usually take a full-size laptop. It sure was handy.

I realize the Micro Center deal included a keyboard. I bought online from MS' site directly, which lacks a keyboard. Where is a good place to get a keyboard/cover? MS is raping for one. TIA.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Also, are keyboards compatible with all versions of MS Surface, such as RT, 2, 2 Pro? Or do I need to be careful on what keyboard I select to ensure compatibility?

Dell Venue Pro 8 was 229 on Amazon - I picked one up. I sold my surface due to getting a pro from work but I have to say I loved my RT (and am loving this dell venue 8 pro - playing portal on it and some left for dead 2 all running off my 64 gb micro sd card).

You got a link? I tried a search but didn't find anything.

here you go, I bought from this seller my Surface RT with touch cover about a month ago and the Surface looked brand new. Check his store maybe he has black touch covers this one is white.

Thanks. How does that feel compared to a regular keyboard? Is there much of an adjustment?

It looks like he doesn't currently have any Surface keyboards in his Ebay store. Doing a quick search, I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Removable-B...t-Surface-RT-Pro-/290982617224#ht_4343wt_1124

It's a little over $40 and ships from China. Any thoughts on it from anyone here? TIA.

Its just a normal cheap bluetooth KB with a cheap leather case that fits the surface. It will work but don't expect it to be anything like the real MS one.

Go to Kohls. They have some very similar stuff forr only a few bucks more; I saw them Christmas shopping this weekend.

Thanks. I'd like a Surface keyboard that "snaps" into the tablet like in the commercials.

I would've never guessed that Kohls was selling Surface keyboards.

Well, they're generic BT keyboard cases for various sizes. So, ymmv.

Ahh, i see. I'll go to Kohls this week to check it out. Thanks.

A BT keyboard might suffice, although it'd be yet another device that needs to be charged.
