I am curious if we can get ICS running on that tablet. Those specs for that price would be nice. But I will believe it when I see it.

At $199 it is a gamer changer without question. And I don't mean that in a totally positive way as it would obviously hurt OEMS and Microsoft would have a rough time making any money on it. It would probably even further hurt the sales of x86 PCs. But it would present Apple and Google with a hell of foe. Android would be all but done except on devices at Big Lots and I don't see how Apple could continue to sell $500 iPads at ever increasing numbers.
The thing is though that this price seems to be coming from several people that all went to the same conference at the end of July, an official Microsoft event. So whether this is true or not it seems that it's Microsoft that's at the root of it, and that's why at least with what I know now it's hard for me to totally discredit it as impossible as it seems it has to be.
But $299. that's still extremely competitive and still makes >$200 Android devices much less viable and puts pressure on Apple as well. But here's the thing. There are other people making RT devices and there's a possibility that someone is making a pretty cheap one. I do think that RT devices are going to be very competitive pricewise and not try to go head on with the iPad, I think they'll be cheaper. You'd have to think that Microsoft and OEMs are going to stupid or brave enough to try to go toe to toe with the iPad on price, not right now.
Windows Phone 7 has been on the market almost 2 years, and its market share is truly insignificant. If anyone wanted a Windows based mobile device with a Metro-type interface, they'd have one, and yet the market share of WP7 appears to be in the low single digits... 1.3% of new smart phone sales in Q2 2012, according to Nielsen. What makes you think that somehow people are going to suddenly rush to Windows RT over Android now? People don't like Metro... if they did, they'd buy Windows phones.
$199 will never happen. OEMs won't allow it. Stop snorting the fairy dust.
Because there's currently no Microsoft product for them to use at the $199 price point, among other reasons.Except the OEMs they are going against at that price don't use MS products they use Android
The overall market share isn't that large yet, but WP7 is showing massive growth numbers.Windows Phone 7 has been on the market almost 2 years, and its market share is truly insignificant. It is therefore not unlike the weed, which grows quickly, but rarely ever amounts to anything of value. That basically makes WP7 the fastest-growing mobile OS out there, while iOS and Android slowly claw their way upwards and BlackberryOS falls like a rock.

Except the OEMs they are going against at that price don't use MS products they use Android ... If MS wants to go nuclear on Google, this would be an extremely effective way to do so ... the x86 version is where MS has to be very careful not to tread on their OEM partners toes![]()

WP7 hit 450% growth, year-over-year at the end of Q4 2011, and I expect an even larger year-over-year figure for Q4 2012.

Since WP7 launched, nearly every cellular customer in the US has had their contracts expire and could have switched if they wanted. They haven't. If people liked the Metro UI, they'd use it. They aren't.

Lumia 900 is my daily driver, runs WP 7.5, best phone I've ever had.
Where do you live that you've never seen people using Ipads in public? If that's the actual price, it'd be a nice one, but a 10 inch tablet is just way too big for me. Just like a phone with more than 4 inches of screen, they're large enough to be cumbersome to carry around. If I bought one, I'd just stand there with it in my hands, kinda looking funny at it because I would never have seen one that big before and not really be sure where I wanted to try to put it first. That'd probably end of spoiling the mood so no one would get to have any fun playing with it. Don't even get me started on figuring out a way to bag it so that its not as dangerous. Do they even make one you can roll down over it when they get that big?
Anyway, call me back when its three inches smaller because it might fit in more places and be easier to handle in general at that point.
Happy Bolivian Flag Day, everyone!
Right here.Where?![]()

What. The. Fuck. are you talking about?!
I've seen a lot of people around with iPads. Even in Seattle/Bellevue area. I bought an iPad because it was bigger than the Nook Color tablet that I had before (I'm anti-Apple, but it fit the needs that I had - FUCK STEVE JOBS AND HIS MAGICAL iPAD!). The 10" size is perfect for me. 7" is great for a lot of things, but reading books and magazines is easier on iPad, as well as a lot of the other applications I use.
