Hello all.. I recently built a rig with a z270 mobo and a Plextor mp8e drive. I installed windows 10 x64 from usb clean and right after the install it proceeded with the creators update. After that was all done I went to start getting drivers up to date.. I noticed that the Microsoft standard NVMe driver is the one being used for my mp8e. I know Samsung and Intel typically suggest using their own drivers but Plextor only has a win7 driver on their site. Is the m$ standard NVMe driver the one I should be using or should I install RST or something else? I have no raid on this system at all.. It's probably fine but I thought I would ask.

OEM drivers will probably be a little faster, as they can take advantage of features that the MS driver (which is generic and can't make assumptions) will not. That doesn't make the MS driver unsafe.

If your OEM can't even be bothered to write a Win 10 driver in the first place, I wouldn't trust their work anyway.

Agreed...... realistically though. You would never notice any difference whatsoever unless you are just really into running benchmarks.

If they do not offer a Windows 10 driver on the site then they expect you to either use the built in driver, or they have made their driver only available through Windows Update. Did you use the driver update wizard to "check online" to see if a newer version is available?

Yes sir I did that.. I think it's setup about as good as it can be. I thought maybe RST might have some more features though.. But this is working fine so I will leave it be.
