Reuters says that Microsoft is set to launch a “blistering attack” on Google in prepared remarks to be delivered to the Association of American Publishers later today.

In prepared remarks to be delivered to the Association of American Publishers, Microsoft Associate General Counsel Thomas Rubin argues that Google's move into new media markets has come at the expense of publishers of books, videos and software.

As long as Google's efforts are legal and moral, who cares if they are at the expense of existing publishers? We live in a capitalistic society. Nothing is preventing those publishers from creating their own competing services. This sounds like they're complaining that "we don't want to adapt our ancient business model to compete in a modern world, so we'll whine about it."

C'mon, people. This is Econ 101. Compete or die.

This definitely sounds like a case of "we can't beat them technically... so... TO THE COURTS!" They are being threatened, and are looking for anything to hurt their massively superior competition. Google should sue 'em for making Windows/MSN search the default IE homepage, and for integrating it into windows Explorer.

Whats wrong with using the default homepage on THEIR OWN software of their OWN operating system.

IMO this logic is like suing Ferrari because you have to use their certified parts to repair your car. Simple solution, don't buy the product then.

RIAA + MPAA = Microsoft

Microsoft + MPAA = RIAA

Microsoft + RIAA = MPAA

Solution-

Microsoft * MPAA * RIAA / Google

Sweet!

I feel for them...

Microsoft, that fat bloated criminal antitrust violating nightmare of an ugly Grouper, keeps looking over at this other fish. And everytime it looks over the other fish is bigger. And it knows soon enough that other fish is going to EAT ITS AZZ :p

Guess that'd make anyone uneasy.

MS and Yahoo will never, ever beat Google @ the search engine game.Trying is useless and pointless, and yet,if they dont they will eventually fall by the wayside....Hmnnnn :D
