microsoft optical mouse is too bright!

i have a microsoft optical mouse with an insanely bright red light. is there any way to dim this thing when im away from my computer, i.e.: sleeping?

Or... you could stick it under your pillow and the microsoft fairy will come and steal the money off your dresser.

Even better yet solder an on/off switch, I'm planning to do that to my wireless mouse to help conserve battery life.

If it's USB and plugs into the front of your PC, just unplug it.
