A few months back someone posted a fax number here that you can send your mouse information to in case it malfunctions.

Well, mine has malfunctioned. Anyone remember the specifics on that? Eh, I'll probably go buy a newer one.

The weird way I had to figure it out was to find a Windows machine that had the "Help and Support" section in it. Just hit F1 in XP.

When the screen comes up, press "Get support and find information" or something like that.

Then, on the left it says something like "Get support from Microsoft", and then hit "Ask a Microsoft support rep for help".

I think you need a passport account to use that, but when I sent them a message about my faulty mouse a few months ago, they sent me all the info I needed.

How is this a hot deal? I'm sure microsoft has support numbers on their website.

GREAT DEAL! Try Microsoft.com they have support there. They'll tell you where to send it.

Not a hot deal, only this was the place I'd seen it. I was unaware MSFT openly advertised it, though I guess that wasn't very forward-thinking of me.

I appreciate the help. The trusty mouse is having issues, but it might simply be the USB port. I'll do testing tomorrow, but if it's dead I'd like another. Don't mind buying if I have to.

If its turning off then on again erratically it isn't the USB port. Its the mouse. I had an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 that had this problem and I contacted MS support. They took forever to tell me where to send it so I cracked and bought an MX-700. Aside from unusual acceleration issues in games, its a great wireless mouse that acts like its wired.

You don't have the send the mouse back, all you have to do is send a fax of the bottom of the mouse. I got mine within a week of sending the fax.
