Microsoft being sued over X360

Look if you want to Sue Microsoft over the XBOX360, or start a class action lawsuit ... go right ahead. The vast majority of us, already know what the outcome will be. May I suggest Jack Thompson for your lawyer, he is unstable enough to take on a moronic case like this.

I have never returned a console. Is it true that you cannot return a broken console within the warrenty period?

You people make it sound like MS is knowingly shipping tainted baby formula. Its like that CHiPs episode where those hippies pick up some tainted baby food on the side of the road....ok well its really nothing like that.

Maybe he was one of those saps that overpaided on EBAY and got a broken system. Perhaps since there is no original sales receipt *proof of purchase*
he gets no warrenty coverage?

Long as he registered it, doubt M$ would care. I didn't buy mine, but my headset's mic went kaput last week. Called M$, they checked my registration info, did some basic "did you try this?" tech support and then are sending me a new one. At no time did they ask for proof of purchase and I know I didn't enter any when I registered it. He's just a doofus with no excuse for this lawsuit...

Although I love America, and I dislike M$ .... I hate sue happy dumbazzes.

I was thinking BSD, since its been around even longer, and also where TCP/IP pretty much came from (they came up with the sockets API)

Off Topic : TCP/IP came from my neighbor. Actually he used to be my neighbor but he moved recently (Vinton Cerf)

On Topic : For those interested, Microsoft has been doing a good job of replacing faulty units quickly, and free of charge. And no they do not ask for proof of purchase.

About the 90 day warranty...

Original PS : 90 days
PSOne : 90 days
Original PS2 : 90 days
Slim PS2 : 1 year
PSP : 1 year
Sony Games and Accessories : 90 days
Nintendo Consoles : 1 year
Nintendo Games and Accessories : 90 days
Xbox : 90 days

So 90 days isn't exactly uncommon, not the best, but usually if your going to have a failure it will happen within the first 90 days.

Look we know the dude isn't gonna win against M$, but this is a stark contrast from sueing for being a fatass and sueing for a defective product. This is not Joe Blow making 360's out of his basement it's M$, they can do the R&D right on the thermal side of things. Just because the PS2 was a raging piece of dung quality wise doesn't mean we should be complacent about it carrying over into the next gen of systems from a different company.

Some people just blow my mind, it's not acceptable for $300-$400 systems to be defective out of the box, and 3% is rubbish, we know that number is higher.

I applaud this guy for standing up, even though he'll be knocked down, his voice is being heard on the matter and that's good enough. Hopefully someone with some sense will hold off from buying the system now until the lights are green.

Im sorry, but how do you know that number is rubbish? Do you have any experience with the 360 support? If you did you would know that there were only two days with any significant wait times, that was launch day and the day immediately after. Even then my wait time on wednesday was only 20-30 minutes. That seems to me to be about right for a 3% or smaller failure rate, unless they have a whole lot of support people. Also it didn't sound like MS was outsourcing their 360 support to India or someplace.

Heh... a lot of people are taking pics like this, now:

Figures. I never bought a PS1 or an XBox, and my PS2 came with 1 year. 90 days for games is just fine, I don't mind that (they're just discs). But a CONSOLE? I expect more for a box with a bunch of moving parts and chips and transistors and such...

And while none of us have numbers (the ONLY people that do are Microsoft, and they are likely to understate them), it's not hard to deduce that the failure rate is more than 3%. Maybe that's the DOA rate, but the rate of errors that people are having with their consoles has to be at the very least 10%.
