microphone hum =(

I don't know what it could be that is causing some stupid humming noise when I am trying to talk on ventrilo or record something (even when I have the mic muted).

I've tried using 3 diff headsets and a USB sound card but still get the humming. Any ideas? =(

you uninstalled the drivers, cleaned it up and re-installed right? TS or Vent?

I did uninstall drivers before reinstalling but how do you clean?

I use ventrilo.

select clean realtek audio drivers.

it could also be noise from the pc inself but is probably a software issue. does it hum soft or is it major distortion? no voice etc?

I have a mic on a headset, and a Logitech mic - the hum only happens on the cheeeap headset.

Get a better mic?
