microphone hiss?

Hey all

I just bought myself an x-fi xtremeaudio sound card and since I got it, I've been getting complaints about a microphone hiss. I've tried moving the SC to the lowest possible position, and ahve tried my mic on other computers to rule out the microphone itself. Is there a way to get rid of this annoying microphone hiss? What or who is at fault for it?
