Hey,

We're currently using a desktop microphone for our VOIP conferences and it's not good enough to deal with a 6 or so person conversation. I'm looking at better microphone and I think I need either a condenser or a dynamic mic but I have no idea which is the better option or why. Has anyone had a similar situation where they got a mic in for VOIP conferences?

Thanks

a mic for a conference room type setting, or just for individual users on a conference call? if it is the latter, I'd recommend the Logitech USB headsets. I think mine is the Clear Chat Pro, and it's about $60/ea. If it's for a conference room, we use a Polycom 7000 series PoE SIP conference phone, but they're about $800/ea.

It's for a conference room.

In this particular instance we have a PCI in the room already to run a large monitor so we are just running VOIP of off that. I'm looking at the samson Q1 or C1 range of condenser and Dynamic mics. They both seem to be better at dealing with larger audiences than athe desktop mic we have setup so far btu I have no idea which is better or why. Mics and Audio isn't really my forte.

Thanks for all the help.

I would go with a condenser mic for a conference room. You are also going to need a preamp and an audio interface if you go that route.

check out the Blue Snowball, its a USB Condenser mic with 3 settinsg via a switch on the back, cardioid, cardioid with a -10db pad and an omnidirectional pattern which is what you are looking for.
