Got tired of carrying my tower case around so figured I would build a SSF system. Picked up a Microfly case on the cheap. When I first put the system together it was all air, and man it was just too loud. Especially the stock heatsink on the X1900, it was a jet engine and cooled very poorly. So figured a little water would quiet things down. And I did not want to put anything outside the case, all had to be internal for ease of transporting.
But with the MicroFly I'm very limited with what I can put in it without doing some serious modding.
Components:
Swifty 80mm QP rad: 2. Got'em on sale at the Egg for $17 a piece.
Alpha prototype water block on the cpu.
DD Maze 4 on the gpu.
DD Mag II pump: Super small for placing in tight spots. Plus it was at the local Micro Center.
7/16 MasterClear tubing.
Placed the pump with T-line up front, right after video card. Fan is for cooling the Vregs and ram on the video card.



Here is the rear 80mm rad. I used a 120 to 80 fan adapter to mount it. Unfortunately the adapter is larger than a stock 120 fan so I had to cut away some of the sides. Why they make the adapter bigger than the fan is beyond me. totally stupid design.

The other rad is mounted up front where the stock 80mm fan goes.

This pic shows an early alpha of my homemade water block. It was originally for 939. But it fit the AM2 bracket by turning it 45 degrees and using the mounting clip from a Freezer64 pro heatsink.

Notice the holes I drilled behind the handle. The front fan is directly against the plastic face bezel and get absolutely no fresh air. A 1/4" drill bit and a few holes fixed that problem though.

Also the plastic windows had to go. Case simply could not breathe properly with the windows in. Lowe's has wire grating on the cheap, perfect for replacing the plastic panels. Cut the grate using a dremel and glued them in place with some Goop. That stuff is awesome for glueing just about anything.

I painted my mouse and Deck keyboard the same Java Bean Brown as the case. The color is darker and much more brown than it is in the pics.



Temps with the cpu clocked to 2.8 at 1.5v and the gpu at 705 core 1.525v 841mem hover in the mid 50's when gaming. Not bad considering when running air I was in the 60's for cpu and 80 - 90c for gpu. Air temps were also before putting in the metal grate.
Overall I'm pleased with how it turned out. My painting skills leave a lot to be desired though. Guess that's why I'm a carpenter.
