I've already spent a boatload at microcenter today, does anyone need anything while I'm here?

Appreciate the offer :D

I've got one nearby, but far enough to keep me from getting into too much trouble too often :D :D

Well, I'm halfway between Atlanta and Washington DC, both being close to 6 hours away. I made the run (along with a couple other things to do) and ended up grabbing a GB EX58A board, a couple 920's, a 60Gig OCZ Vertex, 6 Gigs of Corsair 8-8-8-24 DDR3, and quite a few other misc things I've been needing. Going to Microcenter is like a kid in a candy store, since we don't have anything that even comes close around the area where I live. :D

SO, you going tiger hunting? What new rigs you adding? Est. PPD?

LOL - Not sure if I can even get in Tiger's ball park right now, just had a F@H itch that needed scratching. You know how it gets when people (ahem, Tobit...?) starts flashing computer pr0n on the forums and you gotta go get some too. ;)

that is quite a bit of candy LOL

I have a 3 Fry's in our area and 1 Micro Center as well as a Comp USA. Thankfully all of those are at least 20 minutes away or I would be in trouble.

Which one did you go to? I'm really close to the Rockville, md one

I was in Rockville this morning, and the Nutley St. MC this evening....I liked the Rockville store *much* better. A lot better selection, better organized, and this guy named Torrey in the BYOC parts section was beyond helpful with getting me stuff out of the back. I wasn't sure they would let me get another i7-920, but he said it wasn't a problem if I wanted a second one.

Oh shit that's feckin nice. I don't know which I love more, my X58A-UD3R or my 30GB Vertex. Kendrak needs to hurry up and finish alpha testing "Tobit's BigOS v1.0" so you can use it on this new hardware. :D

YAY its coming, and I'll have the bonus in under 24 hours.....

OOOO

Yes, I'd really like to get in on testing some of that too....I'll be home tomorrow evening, and will probably get this stuff set up Monday evening...wait, I need a good HSF for this thing. ANyone got some suggestions for me before I head out of DC tomorrow morning? Needs to be available at the DC or Rockville MD store...

I'm downloading it now... keep your pants on.

Nice pick up at MC!

Hahah I've dealt with him, good people. I'm right down 355 in college park

I just got home. Ended up passing out on a chair at my parents after going out for some good food and drink. I'll try to stay awake for a bit if you need help, you know where to find me.

I'm on my phone so I don't know what they carry but a TRUE works great on mine, 3.9 ghz, 1.42 volts, temps between 63-67 on all cores

I'm puttin together a GPU based rig right now but I'd be willing to test out for A3's on the i7 for a day or two before I throw it in the rack, then it's on to "bigger" things :)

Thanks for answering that before I even posted the question. :)
I'm still amazed to walk into a store and see a wall of nothing but fans. :D To most people, that is probably sad/depressing...to me, it's a 'holy crap' moment of my life I'll never forget. ;)

Hey, can you check prices on <29 dB 60mm fans when you go to the wall of fans?

I'll see what I can find for you....did you want me to pick some up if they've got them? I'm likely headed back there when they open up this morning to pick me up another H50 or the TRUE replacement.

This is why I love living near a CompUSA. Not quite the same deals as Microcenter, but they have near-Newegg prices for a lot of key components (most CPUs, Motherboards, Cases, HDs, etc, but RAM and Video Cards are often more expensive).

I have nothing close, unless you want to call Best Buy a decent place (and for the things I want, it doesn't even compare). Besides, even *that* is 35 miles away. There used to be a CompUSA in Knoxville before they went bankrupt, two hours away.

Mail order really is my only option, unless I make a weekend out of it and go to DC.

Wish i would have read this sooner you could have stoped bye. always fun to meet a fellow folder. im 7 miles off 95 in fredericksburg

Wow - for what it's worth I am also in the area. Just came from the MC on 355 in Rockville this afternoon. It was a MAD house though and I didn't feel like waiting in line just for a $5 fan.

That would've been cool to meet you guys. Seems like a few of you guys hangin out up there in Northern VA and Southern Maryland. :)

We just got back here in Tennessee about 15 minutes ago, and I'm kinda worn out. I really enjoy driving and try to be considerate, you know, give and take kind of driving, but today was I one of those days. I swear that in the 380 mile trip back, I bet I had a dozen or more people who just *had* to dart out in front of me or the pack I was driving with (about 80-85) and slow us all down. I've discovered that people just can't wait until the last car in the group passes them by before they pull out, even if it was just 1 or 2 cars...and i started to think it was just the 18 - 25 year old female demographic that did this the most until some idiot guy driving a Chevy Astro pulled out in the fast lane right in the middle of our group, and stayed there without speeding up. The one time I was trying to get around him in the right lane he pulled over abruptly and cut me off...

Just glad we got the family home safe and sound....sorry for the rant.
