MicroCenter Intel CPU Price Increases

Lol. I love how they still have the compare prices for NE and TD. Lets advertise another site's lower prices.

Uh I still see the 3570K for $179 when I click that link. That is their usual price.

Am I missing something? $179 in Detroit on that page and in cart, compared to 229 at NE and TD.

same here and if you search for the 2500k it's even cheaper at $159.99 for "in-store only  "

Apparently I caught them during one of their one-day resets (once every two months they will bring prices back to non-sale - for 24 hours - before putting the cuts back on again).

Also, that $159 in-store-only price is not only just the CPU, you no longer get bundle-savings on SB-K+Z-series motherboards - not even Z77. (That's the REAL reason I have absolutely zero interest in i5-2500K, despite the $30 lower price on the CPU - I lose $50 in savings on the motherboard end *in addition* to my having absolutely zero need or intent on getting near IB's heatwall.)

Today's the 14th and pricing is back to the usual.

And I'm equidistant from Fairfax, VA and Rockville, MD (which one gets my business depends on inventory/stock on hand).

Anyone know which processor would be best for me to grab at Microcenter?
i7-2700k, i7-3770, or the Xeon E3 1230v2?

They are all in a similar price range, but the Xeon is slightly cheaper. Microcenter is offering much larger discounts compared to MSRP on the other two though.

If you plan on doing any overclocking, then you want to stay with a "K" series chip, like the 2700K you mentioned or the newer 3770K (which is an Ivy Bridge part)...I have been very happy with my 3770K, but then again I've done a few *mods* to it;)

Glad I caught the 3770k with the facebook coupon for $259.99, came out to be $279.80 with taxes.

they still do the $50 off any board with teh ivy chips...dont know why you say they dont.

3570k is $189, and has been for months since they got it.

2500k has also been $159 for month since the Ivys came out.

Combo discount has been $50 off with 3570K or 3770K with any Z77 board. However, if you get the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H you actually get $65 off.

Bought a 2500k there a few days ago for $159.99...still the same price at Westmont.

got me a nice i7 3820 for $229 :p I think its probably only on chips which are the most current generation

Is the microcenter in store deal always running for the 3570k + z77 motherboard? Is it any motherboard that the $50 discount applies to? And do you need some type of coupon or is it an auto apply thing when a mobo is bought with the cpu? Gonna be in ATL over the weekend and looking to go to the Marietta one. Thanks. Or are there any better deals to consider?

Its automatic when it rings up. $50 off any Z77. If you have a nice manager, you can get an open box board or CPU and still get the discount, they just have to over ride it.

Best deal is with the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, ,because its $65 off, and its the best board in the price range. Ive had it, the MSI G45, ASrock Extreme 4, and ASUS LK, and the Gigabyte is by far the best.

The website rings up $50, and so does the cashier, but you show them the add, and they fix it.

Its been that way for at least the last three months.

Thanks Cecil! Was stuck between the asrock and that board, but really couldn't justify the additional cost. Now I really don't have to worry about that. Still wish it had a heatsink on those top VRMs though.

You can get ram sinks for it if you are worried about it, but really, Ivy draws so little current even at 5Ghz, that they stay very cool.

Just to confirm, when I bought my 3820 a couple weeks ago in the Tustin store, they offered me $50 off any x79 board. Got an Asrock extreme4 M for $165 :)
