I'm not affiliated with or selling this KS, but I might support it.

Might be VERY fun as a chiller, these micro rotary units are very effective - I don't know what model it's using, but it does say it's a scroll compressor with R134a and 150W rated. It also runs on 12V.

Ocellaris It's possible, but many Kickstarters have gone through without a hitch. I don't let a few bad eggs spoil it for the masses.

Estimated retails price $788.

That's too expensive for what it provides. Poor market viability.

Track Drew That's with the battery pack, which is ~12v 12A capable for some number of hours - It's a beefy pack with a beefy charger. But I don't disagree - I'm eyeballing the $500 price point for the unit without the battery.

Where exactly is the heat going to go? This would only be useful outside

Apparently it comes with a hose you can use to direct the hot exhaust "outside." This seems like it could be marginally useful to create a cool breeze to blow on one or two people, but it's not going to cool a boat or deck and it'll be completely imperceptible if there's any hint of a breeze.
