So I've finally got all the parts I need to build my lan gaming pc. The only thing next I need to get, is a micro atx case. As small as I can get. As I don't have any money for the case yet, I decided it would give me ample time to research it and make sure everything is going to fit correctly. What I'm going to be putting in the case is what follows:

Corsair VX550W power supply
Palit 9600gt (dual slot cooler)
1 dvd drive
1 hard drive (at least for now)
Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 Micro ATX motherboard
AMD 7750 x2 cpu (stock cpu cooler)
G skill ddr2 800 ram

So far the only case I've really looked at is the Thermaltake Lanbox Lite at 89.99

However, I've looked around the sff forum and saw other cases. I think that the lanbox lite's mirror finish is going to scratch and smudge easily, so if I'm moving it to around alot, its not going to look so great.
Now I'm looking at the Silverstone Sugo at 79.99 (cheaper yay!) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163112
and I'm also looking at the Lan LI PC-v350b at 119.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112151

I'm looking to make sure these parts will fit in these cases, from what I read it will definetly fit in the thermal take, but I don't know much about the Silverstone or the Lan LI.
And is the extra 40 bucks for the Lan Li really worth it? Since it is just a computer for lans and such.
 
I believe people here on HF have said the Sugo SG2F fits all the cards if you remove a cage. Check on that though because there are different versions of the Sugos and not all of them fit the big cards. I know the SG03 fits all cards but thats bigger than you want.
 
Silverstone and ThermalTake offer great lan cases. Of the two I'd go with silverstone although Thermaltake's Lanbox Lite has the handle which is very convenient.

correction. the lanbox lite does NOT have the handle.

i have a lanbox lite as my lan/gaming rig. it's pretty hefty (3 hdd's + gtx 280), but it's not as big of a pain to lug around as a full ATX chassis.

if i had to do it all over again, i'd actually get the lian li pc-v350/v351. the case itself not only looks easier to work with, but i wouldn't have had to mod my lanbox lite to squeeze in the gtx 280.

the silverstone sugo sg-01 would be my second choice only because everything is tightly packed in (no wasted open space). but considering how much less open space the sg-01 has than the lanbox lite i'd think twice.

I've got the Lanbox Lite and tbh if it was for carrying around and going to a lan I would probably have gotten a CM Elite 340/341 and modded dual 120's in front.

The lanbox is nice, but pretty hefty for a small case, and airflow options aren't the best without modding for crossflow. HSF choice is pretty limiting.

The Sugo's look nice though.
 
GTX280 you are probably SOL just from the power supply requirements... probably only a 300W.

But, if you modded one of these so it had a slim dvd drive instead of the top two hotswap locations, you could get 2 more drives in there...

1. see my sig for my matx box specs.
2. the three hdd's in my box? 3.5", not 2.5".
3. and then there's my archaic, full-sized 5.25" ide dvd burner...
 
Word of caution on that QPack, it has a power supply that is labeled 420W but realistically only produces 300W before crapping out. That and because of the 5.25" bays being in line with the power supply you can't install a power supply deeper than 7" and even then only with some dvd roms.
 
I dont like how they put a little 80mm fan on the back of that Lian-li PC351. Two 120s in front but a little rinky dink 80 in back? A shame they couldnt make room for a 120mm. I guess its better than none at all though. Silverstone has a little 92mm fan in a 80mm housing. I wonder if that would work on it? Hmmm.....:D
 
I am using the Lanbox lite. It is a real capable mATX case. I have the 9800gtx which is a heat monger and the dfi jr 790gx. I am using the scythe shiruken cpu cooler because of the psu clearance. My 7750be idles around 30' with a 3.0 o.c. Only problem is the NB stays hot and I had to remove the hdd cage for the gpu clearance. I just used a bracket and put a hdd in one of the 5 1/2 slots. It is pretty big and you would need some way to carry it like straps.
 
don't buy a case just because it's cheap; there's probably a reason why.

buying a steel/plastic case will put a smaller dent in your budget, but it will leave you wanting better build quality later on.

if you're so set on spending the least amount of money on a case, i'll be more than happy to sell you my lanbox lite.
