ok the control pod thingy on my PM 5.1 ultras have a slot for the headphones and mic, even tho the mic plug isn't connected to the speakers (i'm not using spdif) and i was wondering if i can still plug in my microphone into the control pod and get it to work.

i ask because for some reason i can't get my mic to work through my mobo (nf7-s) in either the microphone or line in slot. i don't want to install my audigy just for the mic (i like the soundstorm just fine) so i was wondering if it works
 
I don't know about the 5.1s, but the input on my 2.1 pod is only for line-in that you want to play through the speakers, like an mp3 player.
