hey i just plugged in my old mic into my new computer (using abit nf7-s onboard sound) and its not working. i plugged it into my roommates laptop and it works fine for him, so its not the mic.

i plugged the pink end into the pink connector on the mobo, and i made sure the mic wasn't muted or anything, but windows sound recorder can't pick up anything. i was wondering i'm doing incorrectly. thanks much

Sometimes board makers don't do the standard format. I would check up on your mother board and make sure where the mic port is.

i checked and it still doesn't work, i even plugged it into the line in plug to check but no luck.

anyone else have any ideas? i mean i could install my sound blaster audigy again, but really i can't hear any difference between the cards and the less hardware inside the easier it is

Check your equalizer, and make sure that the MIC is not muted. I have noticed lately that the MIC in has been coming muted by defualt on some systems
