Hey guys, a while ago when i bought my comp i bought a mic with it, and it has never worked since i got it. recently i got a new sound card and speakers and shit... and i bought a LOGITECH gaming headset. plugged her into the speaker port at the back and the pink connector in the mic hole.

went to test it out in sound recorder, get nothin... the mic volume is maxed on volume control, aside from that i dont know where to look.

i tried the "test hardware" function under sound in the control panel and it said that theres a problem with DPV setup or something, and to install it in the ADD/REMOVE programs tab.

i tried this and it wasnt on the list.


any tips to point me in the right direction to solve this dillemma will be greatly appreciated.

open up your windows volume control panel. Click options > properities. Click the "recording" button, make sure your mic has a checkmark in the box. click ok.

Now, click the select check box next to microphone if its not already checked, make sure the volume is up to full, and just for haha's add the +20dB boost if you have that option under the advanced button. Did this fix it?

thanks towert.... but unfortunately i took the steps you told me, mic volume was jacked right up as was the +20db boost box checked.

well reinstalled drivers, reinstalled directx. still no mic happenin.

when i go to test hardware under the advanced options it almost finishes and at the end it hits 2 errors.

1st: DirectPlay Voice Setup- (x) an error occured during directplay voice setup. The error code is 0x800004005. *OK*

2nd: Windows error - Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Rem programs to install. *OK*


so i did this, or tried, no DPVSETUP in the add/rem programs, so i searched for it and tried to execute but nothing happened....


anyone???
