Mic problem with vent

I have two microphones, one is my webcam USB microphone and the other is a regular jack microphone.

The USB microphone works fine, but it has a really bad echoey sound.

The regular jack microphone sounds much better... but after 5-10 minutes of playing a game (CoD4, with voice disabled), sometimes more sometimes less, it will stop keying in vent... I press the talk button and it doesn't do anything.

I am using the Auzentech Prelude sound card, I have set the default mic to be the one from the jack. I am using Windows XP as well.

This problem is very unusual to me and I don't know what to do to fix it.
