A couple of weeks ago on my b-day I bought a pair of really nice logitech head phones at Best Buy for about $20. They have a built in mic and work beautifully. Well just yesterday I tried using my Head set and now the mic doesn't work. I tried diffrent plugs on my sound card, I tried updating the drivers and nothing is working. Its like the computer can't detect the mic anymore. The headset still gives off sound but the mic won't work on the PC anymore. Last time I used a mic I used this pos one and it worked fine for a few days then it stoped working but other mics (like this one) would work. I'm sure this is the wrong forum but I really want this fixed. Can someone help me?

Are you sure you have the mic selected as input in the Recording Properties of Volume control and the volume adjusted accordingly in both the Recording and Playback tabs?

hrmmm... well , i suppose there are the obvious things (and dont get insulted if you tried these)

hook up POS mic to see if it still works.

make sure mic isnt muted in sound properties (i know on my system there are at least 3 different ways I can mute the mic)

make sure your mic volume is up (I have a gamevoice headset and I have to crank my volume as well as turn on the 2xboost for anyone else to hear me)

take the headset to any stereo with a mic in and see if it works there.

check what plugs in where (i know you said you already tried this, but checking never hurt anyone)

if your sound is working fine, I dont believe it would be the drivers, but i've heard of stranger things.

good luck...

I'll try the stereo thing. I"ve done pretty much everything else twice.

Its still not working guys. Is there anymore tips? I guess its time for a new sound card, it is 3 years old as is the rest of my hard ware.
