I have a cheap mic by genuis. It's 10 years old. I used to have a mobo P5b-e by Asus that comes with realtek and the software allows me to make it directional (it was called directional beam) . It worked great. Now I have Gaming m3 by MSI and there's no feature like that in the software. the mic picks up everything. Is there anything I can do without buying a directional mic?

could of possibly been a noise gate software solution that only picked up sound when it's at a certain volume.

Something like this is designed for stuff like that - https://sourceforge.net/projects/noisegator/

I can't verify that software is perfect for you as I have the same type of software for my sound blaster Z.

DId you see if MSI provided you any realtek software solutions to install?
