Mic input makes noises / loud buzz when gpu under load

I recently updated some of my pc components:

C2D E6600 -> i7 2600K
Asus P5B Deluxe -> Asus P8P67 Pro
4GB Corsair XMS2 -> 8GB Corsair Vengeance
SB Audigy -> Asus Xonar DX 7.1


I also switched from WinXP to Win7 x64. The following components remained from previous build:

PSU - Corsair HX620W
GPU - Gigabyte GTX460 1GB (2x 6-pin PCI-E power connector)
Hard Disks: 1x Raptor, 1x Intel SSD, 3x WD HDDs (Caviar...)



My problem is the microphone input on the Xonar. Whenever the graphics card needs to "work" (for example scrolling in a document/website, switching browser tabs, opening an application) the microphone channel has low-volume, high frequency "electrical" sound (I can't describe it any better).
When I start a game, as soon as the 3D-engine is loaded and used, a loud buzzing sound fills the microphone channel. The volume and pattern of the buzz differ from game to game (loud in SWTOR & Aion while in HL2 and Mass Effect it is there but not as loud) & when running Furmark it isn't present at all.

This noise is there even with everything unplugged from the Xonar and it affects the microphone channel only, output is completely fine. Hence I am using the Xonar's output and the onboard-sound Mic-In since I noticed this. Onboard sound is completely unaffected by this.



What I tried so far:

- different drivers by Asus & UniXonar
- switching the Xonar's PCI-E slot
- switched the speed of the bottom PCI-E slot (full size slot) to all available options in the bios
- connected the power cable the Xonar is on (it is the only device on it) to all available slots on the PSU, I also switched which molex on that cable I connected the Xonar's adapter to
- exchanged the GTX460 with a 8800GT (1 PCI-E 6-pin power connector), the problem remained but the buzz/electricity sounds may have been slightly different (too similar to be sure though, maybe I just wanted it to sound different)
- different display drivers



Asus forums, google and other forums did not have any solution for me so far. I have no other PSU to power this rig with, so I cannot say if it is the reason for this or not, just like I have no other sound card to put into the system (would PCI and PCI-E make a difference in this case?).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
