Mic doesnt work need help

ive used my mic for gaming for a while now without problems, but a week ago it stopped pikcing up input volume. i tried a different mic, still doesnt work. i checked my audio settings, and theres no reason why it shouldnt work. no soundcard, run through my mobo, anyone know how to fix this?
 
i dont remeber muting it when the problem began,

my soundmax volume panel says the mic is unmuted in playback, but has a warning symble next to it saying "needs to be muted" under record my mic is the only object unmuted

i'm going to assume that you've tried reinstalling your audio drivers. maybe check connections in your system to the mobo mic in.
