mgs4 trailer in 720p

Is this the same one we saw before or is it something totally different?

It's the trailer from TGS this past September.

techdemo?
not a game

Sorry, Konami had a live demonstration where Kojima paused the trailer and manipulated the characters and camera in real-time. This isn't faked. Give it up already: the forum already had this argument two months ago.

Seriously, give it up. MGS4 will look just like the trailer.

Where's the gameplay? Looks like a cut-scene if anything. Oh wait, it can't look like that. There's not even a physical console yet. Ken Kutaragi, absolute genius or over-achieving MORON?

Let us all keep in mind that the MGS series never had a typical 'cutscene'. All of them were done with the game engine. Kojima is a big fan of seamless game play, and always uses the same engine throughout to make the game flow together. Don't be surprised if that is what the gameplay will look like.

Ya listen to this man. Companies don't want to make you think they have a better product unless they actually do. You should learn to take everything at face value and never ask questions it makes you a better person

Edit: Mind you I hope it comes out good

I believe MGS4 will look very similar to this.

Sony might bullshit people, but I can't remember a single time where Konami has ever mislead their fans with biased presentations. Their products are always as good as they look (I remember when people said MGS2 couldn't look as good as it did in-game too).

Now we just have to wait and see whether other developers can conquer the learning curve. Konami seems to have a lot of brilliant people working for them (They mastered the PS2 architecture quicker than most others as well).

The biggest thing is that this is another Hideo Kojima game. Believe me, he is not going to waver from his formula anytime soon. If he put this out to demo, it's gonna be damn close to the final product.

Exactly.

I'm very curious to see how it pans out. I see a new hero emerging, and I keep coming back to Snake going full circle, just like Big Boss did.

Ok when I said hero, I meant the non pussy type ;) I have been thinking of replaying Snake Eater lately. I vividly remember the stark realization at the end that Big Boss was never the bad guy, he was just more in the know all along. That was also the moment that reaffirmed Kojima as one of the greatest game makers of all time, at least in my mind.

well yeah... i hope it is not like that

But I don't think it will be b/c of the fans crying out after that game

edit: and they became the greatest game company to me when they put in the "this is not some grant theft auto" line in the trailer for MGS3... got to love the since of humor

...and how 'bout that final fight? That was awesome.

You won't find any arguement from me. MGS and Final Fantasy are my favorite game series. The fact that Kojima can keep pulling these rabbits out his hat, amaze me. He always delivers an amazing, compelling game. The fight between Big Boss and The Boss was a perfect passing of the torch, and really helped tie things together. Once the game was over I just sat there thinking 'Oh shit, he never was a villan, he was closer to a victim that was just trying to make things right.' AND Kojima managed to tied all that together in a 10-12 hour story line. I kind of see the new one going in this direction, Snake is going to pass the torch to his 'son'. Of course, with Kojima, he could just kill him, and put this puppy to bed once and for all.

would be kind of funny if he got killed by lung cancer

It is bad for you ya know :p

theres a big differnce between in engine and in game, engines a capable of great things on the right hardware, sony didnt have even test hardware the time of this making, and according to the pc elitiests here they will probably refuse to death 2 6800ultras sli'ed=RSX but whatever, ghost recon looks just as good

oh man,

For all of you who are using the Metal Gear Solid 4 real time demo to hide behind, it looks like your favorite hiding spot may be evaporating before your eyes. According to a video posted at 1up, the editor claims that Kojima himself said that the MGS4 demo could have run on the XBox360 hardware. The hell you say? Watch the video and see for yourself, although we have been saying all along the consoles are more equal than people realize in terms of graphic power.

kinda interesting

Hehe look at the AC adaptor. That thing must draw a lot of internal power.

Kojima definately has his hands full. He's developing for all 3 systems, isn't he? And all exclusive titles, from what I remember reading. He's a great developer, and usually quite honest, so the final game will likely look like this video, or at least similar. Amazing that he got this done on fairly standard PC hardware, since the PS3 isn't "done".

steve if you knew anything bout xbox1, powersupply was just a tad shorter then that external :p but still you can hide that thing, it has fans and shit in it lmao

Man,
That does indeed look amazing, can this be real?
I have to be skeptical and not get drawn in by bullshit prerenders.
Can these next gens really produce quality like this is real playable time.
I know they are gonna be awesome, but that is just unblievable.

I sure hope both consoles live up to the hype this time.
If so my 34" XBR960 HDTV is gonna get a workout!!

I don't own the system, so I don't really ever see the brick for X1 at my friend's house. But that one is huge. lol - as I said, there's a lot of shit to power under that X360 hood.

JRT - I'm a bit skeptical as well. But Kojima has his reputation on the line. I'm willing to bet that even if these shots are dressed up a bit with CG, that the final game will look almost as good.

there is no "brick" techniqually(x1), its internal, but its the same size/shape of that external pretty much(external is longer, 2xthe wattage and it has fans )but still it was taken out of the 360 over the summer due to heat problems most likely

Ok one question: there is no PS3 hardware right now, not even Alpha kits?
And this is supposed to be running on the game engine, then what hardware is this running on, some kind of MAC?

The kits are out, but as far as I know, are standard PCs with 6800 Ultra SLI setup. None of the developers have actual PS3 hardware because it doesn't 'exist' yet.

its running on, last i saw in a magazine, some PPC core and Dual 6800ultras in SLI, this was probably runnings on even more BS hardware(dunn sony zombies claim dev kits are 2.4ghz cells and 6800ultra SLI)

edit, 2.4ghz cell and a gpu not "quite" as powerful as RSX :p (ahaha who knows)
ps3-dev-kit-appears-20050622111220126-000.jpg

No alpha dev kits in history have been as powerful as the final hardware. But as of right now, yes developers are making PS3 games with something like that (PPC core + 6800 Ultra SLI)

but the PS3 dev trend has been pre-renderd to what they "think"(cough cough)ps3 will be able to do, but people insist this is real time so i dunno

Hmmm intriguing to say the least.
I like that quote about this being able to run on the 360, that means both should rock.

I'm having a flashback to Back to the Future, when Marty tells the Doc how much power the time machine runs on...

"1.21 GIGAWATTS?!!!?..."
