Is this another game like Cryostasis, which won't run well on any non-Nvidia cards?

I'm running it maxed( except AA, which is set to 'AAA' ) at 1920*1200 and getting 20-25 fps in the prologue, this with a 5870(900/1300) and a qx9650@3.8ghz. If I turn AA to 4xMSAA instead, I'm down in the single-digits as far as fps is concerned, though I might be running out of vRAM at that point. Installing the new preview drivers now, though I was already running the previously released 10.3's.

Anyone else have experiences with this game, Nvidia or ATI?

It's due to tesselation and DOF. If you run it in dx10 it looks just as good. Also from early benchmarks it seems that gf4xxx excells in tesselation so maybe.

Thanks for the link. It was interesting to browse through those benchmarks. It looks like depth of field effects turned on causes as much of a performance drop as 4xMSAA. I think that beg's the somewhat flamebait question but not really, regarding whether DoF DX11 effects or 4xMSAA improves image quality more? I know some people can't 'stand' jaggies and would obviously learn towards the 4xMSAA camp.

It looks like this game won't be playable on mainstream computers, almost period. Even at the 1280x1024 resolution which is fairly low by anyone's standards here only has 30 fps on a GTS260 and 20.8 average fps on a 8800 GT. I think some people would call the frames per second on the 8800 GT not smooth for a first person shooter anyways.

1920x1020 seems rather out of the question if you want a minimum 30 fps unless your using a GTX285/5850 or better. Even a 5770 at 24fps seems a bit on the slow side.

Perhaps this will be the new Crysis until Crysis 2 comes out? Bring on the: "But will it run M2033?"
