Metro 2033 graphics issue

Hello all, I recently upgraded my video cards and decided to revisit Metro 2033 now that have the power to max it.

I've run into a problem though, I get this very strange graphical glitch, it's almost like another image super imposed over what I should be seeing. It's very noticeable when I'm in the Metro, the menu screen included:

Metro2033%25202013-07-31%252022-12-32-08.jpg

I have every setting maxed and running at 1440p in the screen shot. If I change the 'Quality' setting to Normal, or below, the issue disappears, but High of Very High and I get this mess. My setup is in the sig, I thought perhaps it's SLI related, so I disabled one 780 but no. I also tried a couple other recent drivers, and am currently running the 326.41 none of which helped. Other games work fine for me.

Any ideas as to what I can try to fix this? I would really like to play this with everything maxed.

Thanks

I would start off by going into Metro's game properties via Steam and "Verify Integrity of Game Cache", there may be some data corruption causing the problem.
If not, you want to look in the Metro's appdata folder (can be found under user root) and take a look the user.cfg files, global illumination causes all types of weird issues so you may want to disable it altogether.

Search for r_gi in each the user.cfg files in these locations and change the variable from 1 to 0

"c:\users\YourWindowsUserAccountName\appdata\local \4a games\metro 2033"
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\metro 2033"
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxx\43110\remote"

Thank you. I'm away for the weekend, but try that when I get home, and report back.

That worked thanks. It seems others (possibly everybody?) have had that exact issue because when I searched for r_gi on google images I saw a few images exactly like mine above.

Still too bad something needs to be disabled when I have the horsepower to run it maxed. When I finish this it's on to Last Light though, really looking forward to the graphical enhancements that come with it.
