Not sure if this has been covered to death but I'm new to eyefinity. This is my first AMD cards in a LOoooooong time. So far so good, everything is working well and I have no complaints on the hardware. Drivers seem okay too as of now but I've only tried 10.12a and 11.1a up till now.

So here is the issue. Metro 2033 and only Metro 2033 gives me vertical black bars when I enable DX 11 at my portrait resolution of 3240x1920 (landscape seems fine)
Edit This seems to only be related to DX11 Depth of Field on my setup and when it's enabled. DX 11 works fine otherwise.

I have tried countless things and just wanted some input from some of the [H] community to see if this is a known bug and if there is a fix. Rig is in my sig, Game is patched.
EDIT-
Here is what I tried

1. Tried refresh rate at 60hz as well as 120hz
2. Tried all driver settings to application controlled
3. Tried Disabling Crossfire
4. Tried setting CPU and VGA at stock settings
5. Tried forcing vsync on in the user config files as found online in several threads
6. Tried playing with the field of view options in the user config file (tried 15,30,45,60,75,90) All to no avail
7. Tried reinstalling Direct X

I may be forgetting a thing or 2 I tried but despite all of this I get vertical black bars

If I scale my eyefinity resolution back a click or 2 the bars go away.

Currently don't have enough desk space to go landscape and I'm liking the portrait anyway. Any suggestions would be appreciated

black bar in middle or?

Vertical black bars down all the screens.

I fixed it by turning off dx11 dof in the config file. Strange, I really wanted to measure performance with that on, I had no idea it was causing the instability. Oh well I guess it's off for now.

Huh running portrait with the new 11.1a drivers and I get no such black bars.

Could be that you are running 120hz monitors?....shrug this is really an odd issue

really? Even with dx 11 dof on in the config file?

Sorry for the last response, was working all night and had a busy day.

Yea its all on in the config....Not sure why you would have the issue?

Hmm, interesting, guess I better try both cards one at a time again. I remember back when I had SLi I crapped out one card and didn't notice till a while later. Once I installed it by itself it was artifacting like crazy. I was still getting SLi or near sli performance with the cards together, but that explained some instability issues I was having. Once I replaced that card I was golden.

Guess I got homework now. :)

UPDATE

Both cards check out okay individually. Not sure what the issue is, but again this only happens in Metro 2033. Batman AA, GTA 4 and EFLC as well as Just Cause 2 all run fine on the setup. Granted to even get GTA 4 to allow me to change settings I have to tweak the target and add -availablevidmem 0.50, due to AMD drivers not reporting the correct video memory to certain applications. It detects 4GB in the game without the tweak, but anyway, no artifacts or lines anywhere. Only in Metro and only with DX11 DOF enabled in the config file. I can shred through the game at very high, 4x MSAA and every other setting maxed as long as DOF isn't enabled. This only happens in portrait, landscape is fine.

You're not crazy, I'm having the same problem with my new 6950 at 3150x1680. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Try blacklisting it in klite Codec pack under ffdshow audio and video settings

Otherwise if you have objectdock, windows blinds running disable it. You can disable aero as well if it still not fixed to see if it could be the cause

Well, the black lines disappeared when I disabled the DOF. The 6950 2GB runs 3150x1680 on DX11 "Normal" settings with AAA and 16AF in the 30-40fps. Not bad for one card.

Running at High settings is a slideshow dipping down into the ~15 fps range. Ugh.

For what its worth, imo, your not missing much with DoF off. I prefer it off as I find the game choosing what to focus on // what should be in focus doesn't always match what I want to focus on.

Its good to hear a 6950 can run Metro 2033 at that triple monitor resolution with medium settings. Sadly, high settings + triple monitor makes dual-gpu cards a necessity now a days unless you dont mind waiting a year to play games. IE, this december ish's ATI/nVidia card might be able to handle it with a single gpu card.

Damn I have since beat the game at the hardest difficulty with maxed settings (No DOF) It looked amazing. My setup ran it silky smooth. I am still curious to see what DOF would look like so I may reinstall some day but that is the downside to buying a 90GB SSD, you just can't fit all your games on it at the same time. But hey, I was on a budget for my components besides my gpus and cpus. LOL

On a crossfire 6900 setup the game can easily be maxed and completely playable the whole time with no crazy drops in FPS. I'm sure DOF would change that but I would still liek to see what if anything I'm missing with my own eyes.. Who knows.. maybe soon. I'd just like to wait until there is a 100% confirmation that a specific solution fixes the issue.
