i just got this HDD enclosure from newegg, and i have yet to get it to work. it keeps on coming up as an unknown device. i have an old WD 30gig hard drive in it. i accidentally broke the CD that came with it so i downloaded the drivers from the manufacurers site and still no deal. anyone who knows WTF is going on i would greatly appreciate the help!!
 
The USB ports on your computer that your connecting it to....do they properly identify other devices?
 
they sure do, i have my printer hooked up to it and had my mouse hooked up, then found my usb - PS2 adapter and put it back on the ps2 port. it also recognizes my flash card reader when i plug it in
 
Did you manually search or point Windows to the direction of the driver? (Have Disk option when updating a driver). Also you could try Windows Update.

The one I got from NewEgg I believe still recognizes the drive (Ala "Maxtor 120gb") then asks if you would like to format it (if it's in a non-recognizable partition).
 
i accidentally broke the disk, then i tried pointing windows in the direction of the drivers i d/l from the manufacturers site. im trying windows updatye right now, but i didnt see any update that would help. im using windows XP pro w/ SP1 installed and all newer updates. i formatted the HDD earlier in FAT32 by just plugging it in internally....but i want to get this d**n thing to werk!!

...by disk i mean the CD it came with...
 
now i got it to pick up the drive, by putting the jumper on cable select....but i cant put anything on it, it says that its capacity is 0bytes, and i just formatted it in FAT32...should be 27.95GB
