Messing with an OEM case

I have repainted much of this Gateway FX case, and installed an LED fan in the front. I plan to prop it up on "feet" and stick a sound-sensitive cold cathode under it. And at that, I'm out of ideas. I'd really like to make the side panel more interesting, but don't want to cut any holes in it. I might get a hold of another cover that I can dent, maim and cut as much as I wish, but I don't want to ruin this one. The only thing that comes to mind that would be damage-free to the side panel is painting.

Now here's what I'm getting at-if anyone has an idea as to how I could paint the panel, I'd much appreciate you sharing it.
Please do keep in mind that straight lines are preferable, since I'm apt with some tape and spraypaint, but not much more than that.:p
