Messed up X-Fi, how responsive is Creative servicing?

So it seems I have an X-Fi Platinum that arrived almost DOA (it works some of the time and then dies then works again randomly during playing of any sound in any environment). Should I send the card in for warrranty with Creative or exchange it with NCIX? Which process is more painless? Thanks
 
NCIX RMAs = Dental surgery with anesthetic.
Creative RMAs = The local thug punching your teeth out.
