anyone ever replace the acrylic in their side window panel with some modders mesh or mesh alternative? i usually keep the side panel off my case and tems have been great. recently i have had to move my computer to a new area and i'm afraid of someone sticking their hand in it. i could always just put the side panel back on, but i like the idea of having cool air just flow in, plus i think it would look cool. pics would be appreciated.

Have seen a few. Dust is then a problem.
well i already leave my side panel off so dust is already. heck, with mesh on the side panel my dust problem might even improve, lol.

stick some fine mesh fabric behind the mesh, take care of the dust.

I have a stacker, so I already have the mesh stuff..
If I didnt have this case, I would have definately taken out the plexi window
and done it up with some modders mesh..
This is the type of mesh my Stacker has :
I keep my house at a constant 67F, and the computer case temp read at 74F while this room only peaks at 76F with all the electronics constantly running.

I like that side panel, very nice! At work we have some 5 Micron Screen that we use in our filtrations and also as containment. It keeps our starting material in the reactor and allows filtrate to pass on through. I wish I could get a hold of some of that to use as a fan filter. Aint no stinkin' dust getting in my computer. I wonder though, would 5 micron restrict air flow too much?
By the way in case any of you are wondering how large 5 micron is, 0.00508mm width.
A 1 square foot section of this made out of stainless steel is 92$. The larger the square footage of screen you order the lower the cost per square foot. I don't think that I will be buying any of this anytime soon.

It's priced more than it would be in a store, but thats why - I have yet to find any of
these types of mesh sold in any stores. Maybe I don't get out enough, but I've heard many stories of how that modders mesh is easy to make work with how you want it.
I know nothing about filters.
I know that my chenming never had any, and I finally just put pantyhose over the intakes.
The filters on each of my drive bays and on the side intake of my Stacker are working fantastic, but me looking at the filters, I couldnt tell you what the thickness or material is.

I was being just a little sarcastic with my comment.
Actually I think even 500 micron would be too restrictive.
Another option for mesh is to get some window/door screen from your local hardware store. It's dirt cheap. I think I spent $7 and got a 36" x 84" roll--plenty for several cases. It's not stiff, so you'll have to make sure you pull it taut and/or support it from behind, but it's very non-restrictive, and looks great.
i actually thought about using that since i have some lying at home, but its lack of rigidity threw me off. i think i'm gonna head to home depot in the next couple of days and look for some mesh that is similar to modder's mesh. there's nothing wrong with modder's mesh its just that i feel this is something you can get for much less at your local hardware store. plus i would not mine having a cheaper alternative to it, in case i would like to do the same mod in the future.
