merge partitions

hi,

i got a 160gb IDE drive (NTFS) and its splittet into ca.125gb and ca.25gb.
now everytime i try to merge these partitions with Partitionmagic i get an error about a wrong drive version, one seems to be 3.0 and one 3.1. is it still possible to get these 2 partitions together? just so that the drive is back to how it was at the beginning.
