Memtest86 Test #7 Errors - Not due to RAM

I've been using a self-built computer (Shuttle SS58G2) for the past couple of months, and transfers from my Tivo get corrupted about half the time when the previous computer was using had a perfect record. I finally got around to running Memtest86 on it, and a bunch of errors showed up on the random number test. I checked with another computer and confirmed that the RAM wasn't the problem, so now I'm left with troubleshooting what exactly is causing the errors. I'm guessing it's either the CPU or motherboard, but is there anyway to figure out exactly which without buying replacements and trying them??

I don't know of any way to test the motherboard and processor without changing them out. However there are two things that you can still try short of purchasing replacements. You can plug the ram back into your computer and test it again. It's possible your problem may be corrosion on the contacts that a reseating in the second board scraped through. You can also try plugging in the ram into a different socket on the original board.

Thanks for the suggestions, and while I'll go ahead and try them, I doubt either will work. I took the memory from the second computer and tried it back in the first, and it gave errors also (and it didn't while in the second computer). The first comp is a Shuttle also, so there are only two memory slots to work with, and my config is with 2x 512 sticks (and yes, during the Memtest86 tests I tried single sticks in each slot).
