Memtest + screen "sleeping"?

I'm having weird problems with big sessions in Logic studio. I'm starting to think this could be due to bad memory, since it only happens with large sessions meaning maybe my last stick of ram is bad... First of all, is that logic at all correct?

So, I'm trying to run memtest (newest one on the site), and it runs for a while but the screen seems to "sleep" after a bit (system is still on) but I can't wake the system with a mouse or keyboard. Not sure what the issue is. Does this mean the RAM is bad??

It does sound like the system is locking up/getting hung when running the memory test. Try removing some of the modules and running the test again.
 
Turn off the Legacy USB setting in your motherboard's BIOS. This may render your USB keyboard and mouse unusable, but you don't need them anyway to run Memtest.
 
Do you have all the power-saving power management features deactivated in the BIOS?

Try Gold Memory. Sometimes it finds errors better than MemTest86/86+ does.

The RAM is probably fine if you can identify the real maker of its chips.

RAM should be error-free, regardless of where the modules are installed, unless mobo user manual says otherwise.

Sometimes memory errors occur because the voltage regulator near the DIMM sockets becomes flakey from bad capacitors, but pictures of your Gigabyte show that those capacitors (near the floppy disk connector) are Sanyo or Nichicon, very high quality brands. So I'm blaming driver software or RAM.
