Crucial Ballistix in my sig. 2 x 1 Gig Dual channel.

Failed Memtest 86 lately BADLY. 17 errors in an hour. Computer randomly restarting, blue screening, games crashing to desktop. WTF??

Got an RMA from Newegg, going to send them in tomorrow I said to myself, I'll take 'em out later and go drink some beers now. Hehe.

Opened the case, started to take out the ram, uhhh now I remember why I really put it off in the first place. My XP120 totally covers channel 3 where one of the sticks is. No way I'm gonna take basically the whole computer apart right now, not this weekend. WTFFFF???

So I just reseated both of the sticks, even in the same slots, just popped the tabs and pushed the sticks back in the same slots.

Drank another beer and started Memtest 86 again, this time *one whole pass no errors.* I know that's not a long test to truly test ram, but it's still about 45 minutes of error-free 100% ram usage testing, where before it was BAD like I said before.

Gonna try some games now and see what's up with this thing.

edit: when I was in the case I noticed the HSF unit on my NV silencer had 1 or 2 thermal pads slightly OFF the 7800GTX. Like a mm or 2, but not sticking very well. Anybody know of a better way to get that thing to stick on there?

still rebooted during BF2 after 15 minutes. Turning automatic reboot OFF so I can see what blue screen I'm getting.

My old NV silencer did the same thing (thermal pads weren't touching the ram) and my comp used to shut off after a few minutes of gaming also. Got a new NV silencer that actually makes good contract with the video card and the problem went away.

that's not badly. i can get more errors in a single pass of test 5 and never crash in windows while gaming and such

which slots are you using anyway? if you say yellow, i know where your problems are :p
also, feel the sticks after gaming for a while. how warm are they?

posting the same thread twice is generally frowned upon. ;)

what makes you think it may be cpu related?

sorry, it started out as what I thought was a memory problem, but i don't think so anymore, now I don't know what the problem is so I moved it to Gen Hardware.

Maybe CPU because I ran prime95 on both cores using the test that mostly stresses the CPU and not the ram and it failed on core 0 within about 7 minutes, then at almost 3 hours the other core failed. I know my temps are fine, cpu temp went to 42 or so during the test looking at everest.
