I'm a total Mac newbie but I'm loving this laptop .. I've had it for 2 months and I'm looking to upgrade my ram. I don't know which type I have (Santa Rosa, Penryn, etc . . ) but here's my system info:
2.2GHz C2D
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,5
So I'm looking at this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104103
What I can't figure out is if I'm able to adjust the timings on the Mac to take full advantage of this memory's 5-5-5-15. I called up Apple and they said they weren't aware of any way to do it and that I should search Google .. I have, but the best I could find was obscure information on installing windows with bootcamp and using a memory tuning utility??
Does anyone know of a way to make this machine use the memory at 5-5-5-15? If not, should I just buy 7-7-7-20 RAM and save a few dollars?
Thanks!
