Well as a previous post of mine states i've jsut jumped into the OCing ring. I've read lots of articles on OCing but nothing is ever very specific. Anyways i'm running a desktop 2500+ at 2.25, and thats 204FSB at 11.5x. I believe thats what i have it at right now. Anyways i have adjusted my memory timing at all, is this something i should be looking into. They are set at the defaults right now. I'm going to post this then restart my comp so i can see what i ahve everything set at. Be right back.....

OKay so i have a

desktop 2500+ @ 2.25G
1Gb Ram PC3200
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
204Mhz
11.5x
1.8v cpu
Mem times are at 8,3,3,3

Anyone know if i can change this up at all
 
try 2.5-4-4-6, if that doesnt work, do 3-4-4-7, then 3-5-5-7

thats what im using right now, you should try to keep them as low as possible
 
my corsair valueselect pc2700 with 2.80 volts does 2-3-3-7 =P lower the cas the better.. those are horrible timings you got.. i see a huge diff going gtom 2.5 to 2 oh yea.. thats with it running at 180 mhtz =P its amazing what a lil voltage does to memory
 
So i take it the way i have it written down is the opposite of you guys, like mine really is 3,3,3,8 * being the active precharge delay.. I'll give those numbers a try, My comp crashed running at those setting i had listed above, i'm running it with no ocing what so ever right now. So i need to get some stable settings. Well thanks lets see how it goes.

bump it up to 2.80 volts... and try the tighter timings.. i would not be surprised if it works
 
whats wrong with 3-3-3-8?

i got cheap 3200ram, and those are the only timings i can get them to stabalize. on those timings, i got 24hours stable in prime95's blend test, and no absolutely no problems for 2 months (from since i built my rig)
 
oh yeah and i also have the same mobo as you, and a 2500m @3200. 1 advantage tho, i am able to run everything at lowest voltages. 2.6 mem, 1.575 vcore

Those timings are insanely high for an AMD system.

It's stable sure, but tighter timings make your system run a helluva lot faster ;)

I'm at 208mhz with my PC2700 at 6-3-3-2.5 and wish I could go lower with the timings, but I can't :(

my cpu is a horrible overclocker... i need to get a 2600m
for my memory... my friend clocked it at about 240 mhtz or so on stock voltages... pretty good for pc2700. it needs the extra voltage for cas2.. i dont know what the limit is for cas2.. the cpu is limiting the overclock.. but all i know is at 2.8 volts it can do 200 mhtz at cas2 probably

Your ram reached 240mhz for pc2700!? :eek:
 
Try pumping it with voltage. And 3-3-3-11 is much better than 3-3-3-8 for 200+ MHz

he put it in his epox and overclocked it past 200 mhtz using my ram.. staying 1:1 i think he got to like 230 or so.. he did it doing stock voltage and stock timings which is 2.5-3-3-8 i think

my memory does 200 mhtz easy... i havent tried it but at 2.8v i bet it could do it at cas2

pretty good for corsair valueselect huh?

in doom3 going from cas2.5 to cas2 completely removed the hiccups while switching rooms and seemed to double the load speed

Looks even to me, according to the tradeoffs.
 
heh, thx to this topic, i now have my ram lowered to 2.5cas. too bad the difference is minimal tho
