I bought a GA-78LMT-S2P even though the memory support list is dismal (only three 4gb sticks supported, none of which is actually sold!). I tried putting in a Gskill ripjaws 4gb stick, and it booted up and ran just fine, but all the tests I ran (prime95, OCCT, superpi, memtest86...) stopped and reported errors within minutes at best. I replaced the 4gb stick with two Gskill 2gb sticks I had in another computer (also not on the support list), and put the 4gb stick the other computer. Both computers ran the tests for hours without any issues.
So the 4gb stick just doesn't work in the gigabyte board. My question is, do you think there's any 4gb ram I could use in it? I reallly wanted to have 8gb for when I upgrade to bulldozer. Do you think I should return the 4gb stick for 85% and buy another 8gb set from another brand and hope it works?
Edit:
Well I found that Kingston ram on the support list... You can delete this thread.
