I have a 2GB chip in one slot, and a 512 meg chip in the other slot (both are DDR 2 PC4200 400mhz). When the bios loads up.. it only reports the memory as ~2.0GB, however... when it boots into Vista.. it reports it as 2.5Ghz everytime. How could the OS handle (and let alone, report and support) memory that the bios doesn't even see? is this correct? i mean.. it's not like it's reporting memory that isn't physically there, but it's reporting memory that the bios doesn't see is physically present. Any ideas guys? Thanks...

updated before even posting... thats what i thought the problem might be too... no luck... fully updated...

Has anybody else ever had a problem like this? Even if you don't know the cause of this, i'd like to know I'm not at least alone :D

It wasn't me but a friend... His just said 2gb instead of 3gb... not sure how it worked out though...

yea... all of this is puzzling to me too. i'm just wondering if my system is actually using that extra half a gig or just thinking it has 2.5gb instead of 2. Any way to figure that out?
