I have an ecs p4m800promv2 that takes ddr and ddr 2. When I put ddr 400 2 x 512 it counts in the bios and is ok in xp as that amount.

When I put in 2 1gb ddr2 the bios shows 2 slots used but counts only 1 gb ( 2 x 512) . I put in each stick individually and each one only showed in the bios as 512. these are new HP ddr2 667 which are a bit higher than my board which calls for ddr2 533 .
I downloaded a program pc wizard 2007 , it correctly shows 2x 1 gb memory in each slot, but when I check xp it only shows 1gb total memory in xp. I am lost can someone help me? thank you
