Hello,

I bought these Patriot Extreme Performance 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220142&Tpk=PEP21G6400LL when i bought my system 8 months ago. Today i received the Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220144&Tpk=PDC22G6400LLK and my system gets very unstable. I get blue screens and windows vista take along time to start up.

When i start up the computer i see that the bios see the 4gb of ram. I tested the memory with the windows cd and it said that the ram is good all 4 of them.

Right now I am using the 2 sticks of ram that I received today.

I have the latest bios update, video card, chipset...

Before i could not get into windows until i disabled norton internet security.

I would try raising the voltage a bit in the bios. I had a similar thing happen to me when i went from 2GB of ram to 4GB. My ram became unstable at the same speeds with 4GB, and I figured out that i needed more voltage to keep the same settings stable. Try adding a little Vdimm voltage or NB voltage and see if that helps. BTW, Memtest86+ works better at detecting errors that the windows cd version so i'm told. Hope this helps

Thanks Silverstone,

The ram is advertised at 2.2v

I'll put it at 2.2v and see how it works.

I up the memory voltage to 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 I did not get the blue screen but the system took long to boot. :(

I installed KB929777 and that did not work either :(

I can get into safe mode and the system works good at normal memory voltage.

It almost looks like is something that's starting/running in the back ground in normal computer use that's making the computer unstable.
