When is the price of memory supposed to come down. I would like to purchase another set of 4gb but the same memory i bought a year ago for 75$ is now sitting at 110$+ at newegg now. Any one have any ideas as to when this is expected to drop back to reasonable prices.
 
Honestly, I'd give it another year or two. It's not going to drop until the transition to DDR3 is farther along.
 
what type are you looking for? if DDR2, then no, that will never come down and probably go up due to reduced supply. I did pick up 4 MB 1066 low cas from frys today for $89 I think. But it will probably never hit $40 like my first 4 GB.
 
I seriously doubt we'll ever see memory pricing as low as it was last summer and fall. Many companies in the semiconductor industry were selling ICs for less than it costs to make them and I don't think they are going to allow that to happen again.
 
I just wish I could go back in time and get RAM before it got so damn expensive. My question is: since RAM is so cheap, why are OEM PC makers (HP, Dell, etc.) able to put bucketloads of RAM in a PC? I.e. it's not uncommon to see a low-end HP with 6gb of RAM in it.
 
Memory prices won't come down this year I'm afraid, there's an enormous under-capacity in the market

Check the date - 2007.. That test is non-current.
 
A-data always seems the cheapest. Has been reliable to me. Performance wise g-skill is on the cheap side. As for retailers try memory express.
