All,
I'm having some surprising isues with overclocking my memory (Corsair 4400C25PT). I'm finding that when I try to test the memory at it's certified ratings (vdimm 2.8V) and with my CPU turned down to 7XFSB I get errors in memtest86 v1.51.
However, if I reduce the CPU multiplier still further to 5.5 then everything goes okay. I assume this is down to CPU voltage. However, I would have expected no issues unless the CPU multiplier clocks the CPU at above 2Ghz. Can someone explain why I need to turn down my CPU speed so much to get my memory through memtest86? And also, if I need to add voltage to my cpu can someone tell me what bios setting I should use? It doesn't seem clear from the bios (my system spec is in my profile). I think I can infer it but don't want to change stuff before I know what the setting means.
Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated
