Memory Limit When Overclocking? - 7850

Hi, from reading on the web I found out about a limit point for overclocking memory. Not that you can't go above that point, which for the most part is not that high, but that onc e you go above it the performance doesn't go up and might actually decrease slightly.

I had never known about this until a friend told me about it, is this true or overblown and actually not a big deal? Or is it actually a problem and if so does anyone know how high you can OC the 7850's memory clock before hitting that barrier?
 
There is error correction in GDDR5 but from what I've seen on current generation of AMD and Nvidia cards, you will see artifacting or crashing before the memory has to start error correcting and cause any loss of performance. I have yet to see any performance loss in my 7850, 7950's and 670's by overclocking the memory before artifacting and crashing. For most 7850's, the limit seems to be around 5800-6000MHz before artifacts and crashing takes place which is usually the maximum limit for those cards.
